MRC| Megyn Kelly shocked everyone this week when she announced that she will be leaving Fox News for the more mainstream NBC News. Though she was initially happy with her decision, it now looks like she has made a huge mistake…
People Magazine reported that Kelly might not be able to start at NBC News for a full year due to a six month non-compete contract she signed with Fox News. This means that after her contract ends in July, she’s not allowed to work for anyone else unless Fox gives her permission to do so.
“Nobody knows when Megyn starts,” says the insider. “She is still under contract at Fox until July, then she has a six-month non-compete [clause].”
“Fox might let her out of the non-compete, but they might not,” the insider adds. “There is so much that has to still be arranged. It’s definitely not like she’s starting on the Today show Monday morning!”
The source added that “nobody knows what she is going to be doing.”
This comes amidst reports that Kelly is being slated to take Savannah Guthrie’s job as host of the Today show.
“There is a rumor on set that Megyn would eventually get the lead anchor role on Today, pushing Savannah out,” an NBC insider told the New York Post.
However, after a year out of the spotlight, Kelly’s popularity is sure to take a massive nosedive. If Fox refuses to let her out of her contract, her career might just be over forever.
We bet Megyn Kelly regrets all the nasty things she said about Fox News now…
