What is about Dem politicians and crime?
They always go together.
A Texas state senator is facing criminal charges carrying over 200 years in prison stemming from an oil production Ponzi scheme.
Carlos Uresti, a San Antonio Democrat, faces 13 charges for his part in the scam, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Uresti and his business partners allegedly created a Ponzi scheme to sell fracking sand for oil production. The Democratic legislator’s office was raided by the FBI and IRS in connection to the scheme.
The Ponzi scheme indictment is not the only legal issue Uresti is currently dealing with. He has been indicted in a non-related case, which alleges for 10 years Uresti was paid $10,000 a month by a businessman in exchange for a medical services contract at a corrections facility.
Uresti has denied any wrongdoing, saying he will plead not guilty while referring to the charges against him as “groundless.”
